Supporting senior staff with:
Transmission/distribution equipment testing
Power system modeling and analysis
Power hardware in loop (PHIL) testing
Advanced communication and asset health monitoring
Distributed energy resource integration
Data fusion, analytics, and automation
Control hardware in loop (CHIL) testing
Electric Vehicle (EV) testing
Travel may be required; frequency depends on the assignment and is typically less than 10%.
The successful intern will have the opportunity to learn about these activities as described above by working with a team of experienced engineers and technicians.
Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Electric Engineering organization through the work they will be performing.

Requirements

Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at an accredited University
Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship
EIT or FE certification
3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
Experience with utility modeling software such as CYME, PSCAD, RSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF
Programming experience including National Instruments Labview, Python, Matlab
Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
Interest in the Power System Equipment Testing, Power Flow Modeling and Analysis, Test Automation, Controls and Data Acquisition, Engineering Analytics, Power Electronics, Electric Vehicles, and DERs.
