About the role

  • Independently conduct cutting-edge scientific research to understand electrical properties of devices used to build quantum computers
  • Perform and expand electrical characterisation techniques on devices, gaining insights into Josephson junction functionality and performance
  • Build streamlined workflows to enable high-quality data generation, storage and analysis
  • Automate measurement processes to increase throughput and decrease errors
  • Report findings to internal and external stakeholders and contribute to published research
  • Translate research results into mature, industry-ready processes
  • Collaborate within the Material Science and Device Engineering (MSDE) team and work closely with Oscar Kennedy

Requirements

  • Proven research experience via PhD or significant professional research experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science or similar disciplines
  • Experience with electrical transport measurements (required)
  • Proficiency in Python for equipment control via APIs and automation scripting
  • Experience turning experimental results into mature processes and reporting findings
  • Strong data handling: generating, storing and analysing high-quality measurement data
  • Desirable: knowledge of Josephson physics, nanofabrication, superconducting devices or nanoscale device physics
  • Ability to communicate results to internal and external stakeholders and contribute to published research
