About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Architect, design, develop and maintain native macOS application features and cross-platform C++ core libraries.
- Lead the development and optimisation of software for Apple Silicon and the wider macOS ecosystem.
- Resolve complex platform-specific challenges involving rendering, memory management and multi-threading.
- Deliver robust, scalable and maintainable solutions to technically demanding problems.
- Drive continuous improvement across software development, testing and deployment processes.
- Manage and optimise Xcode builds, CMake configurations and macOS CI/CD pipelines.
- Gather requirements and contribute to the development of both new and legacy products.
- Support internal teams and external customers with Mac-specific deployments and technical issues.
- Participate in technical investigations, innovation initiatives and architectural decisions.
- Collaborate effectively within Agile development teams.
- Occasionally travel to other Andor offices and customer sites when required.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Software Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a software development role
- Strong proficiency in C++ and object-oriented software design
- Deep understanding of the macOS ecosystem, Apple Silicon architecture, Xcode, build pipelines and memory profiling tools
- Strong experience with Git, source control systems and collaborative development practices
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through testing and support
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns and Clean Code principles
- Excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms and computational complexity
- Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
- Proven ability to learn quickly, take initiative and solve complex technical problems.
