About the role
- Own the delivery of robust category strategies aligned with business needs for approx. 700-800MM in spend across different Indirect Goods & Services including but not limited to: IT, HR, Finance, Operations, Professional Services, Facilities, Transportation Logistics, Marketing.
- Develop plan to deploy, execute and hold team members accountable for individual category strategies that deliver best-in-class performance that exceeds business expectations
- Own and lead long-term strategy for Indirect Procurement including P&L impacting value generation, profit improvement, innovation, risk management and E2E sustainability
- Lead high-stakes negotiations with key functional stakeholders to deliver P&L impacting savings by leveraging data, analytics and effective negotiations skills
- Deliver robust plan and drive execution against negotiation plan for all Indirect Procurement and over 2000+ vendors with a clear negotiation strategy that deliver best-in-class negotiation outcomes and contracts that protect Owens & Minor while delivering benchmark P&L savings and balance sheet impact.
- Drive continuous engagement and exposure with Executive stakeholders given the relevance of the indirect categories to deliver business growth through Innovation and Margin optimization.
- Leads strategic relationships with top tier suppliers to drive O&M's supplier innovation and growth agenda as it relates to indirect procurement
- Deliver results and strengthen supplier partnerships in collaboration with other Functional leaders, Procurement leaders, Business Executives
- Guides the indirect team members on the Standard SRM and Supplier Engagement plan to deliver on value, efficiency, and quality results.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and Compliance to manage contract risk, regulatory exposure, and supplier performance while acting as escalation point for high-risk supplier issues or disputes.
- Develop a high performing team of global procurement professionals
- Lead a category team of 7 with a clear execution plan
- Provide thought leadership to and shares best practices with Indirects and Other Procurement teammates
- Represent the category at global meetings as appropriate.
- Build competence and capability in indirect team members
- Contributes to Global Procurement team capability build by leading one major initiative
- Develops and maintains knowledge-base across the sub-categories in Raw Materials
- Continual review of external and internal best practices, health care market movements and technology trends
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, Masters degree is preferred (business, engineering, industrial production, supply chain, logistics domain areas preferred)
- 15 or more years of experience in procurement and negotiation of Indirect goods and services with 10 or more years of leadership experience
- CPM, CPIM, and CPSM certifications preferred
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements.
- Executive presence and communication
- Solid knowledge of procurement best practices – Strategic Category Management, Negotiations, SRM and Compliance
- International regulatory experience/exposure preferred.
- Fundamental understanding of financial systems data, accounting processes, and e-procurement technologies
- Experience with E2E Procurement applications like Coupa, Ariba or others preferred
- Broad understanding of major corporate suppliers
- Experienced with presenting and selling ideas at multiple levels in the organization
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to conduct Requests for Procurement and Request for Information processes leveraging eSourcing, eAuctions
- Demonstrated ability to conduct competitive bidding processes in an unbiased and ethical manner.
- Ability to critically review, author and edit contracts and agreements.
- Understands principles of accounting, including the ability to read and analyze financial statements of suppliers.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
