About the role
- Adhere to all OC and Plant specific requirements when properly handling, moving and storing metal.
- Participate on safety teams
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Recognize, report and correct safety hazards upon identification
- Studies blueprint of the part to be fabricated, computes dimensions, and plans sequence of operations
- Measures and inspects kitted parts to determine specification conformance
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as metal forming machines, drills, presses, pneumatic hand tools, and welders to meet part specifications
- Assembles and welds parts to print
- Cleans and inspects finished bushing
- Verifies conformance of finished bushing to blueprint specifications
- Use computer to input documentation to move finished material to the next process area
- Communicate areas of opportunity to Area Leaders
- Work with Area Leaders to audit critical process variables
- Collect inventory sheets and audit inventory verification process report findings to the Area Leader
- Work with maintenance to improve machinery
- Utilize TPM and metric board maintenance
- Generate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Work with Area Leader in improving the fabrication process
- Develop safety and quality standards
- Build bushings in the published time allotted
- Weld parts according to print specifications and verify critical dimensions
- Train other fabricators on best practices
- Assist on bushing inspections
- Determine the amount of labor necessary to produce daily bushings
- Work with Area Leader in determining gaps in the process
- Set up and adjust welding machines as required for various applications
- Available and willing to work 1st, 2nd, or rotating shifts as needed
- Available and willing to work overtime (extended shifts, Saturdays and/or Sundays)
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Some experience Tig welding stainless, aluminum and mild steel in a manufacturing environment; or completed courses in Tig welding stainless, aluminum and mild steel.
- Computer skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld notes, fabrication, assembly and process documentation
- Set up and adjust welding machines as required for various applications
- Work from part drawings, templates, etc. most welding done in down position
- Welds parts according to print specifications and verify critical dimensions
- Sense of urgency to produce parts on time
- Eye-Hand-Foot Coordination
- High attention to detail
