About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead day-to-day accounting and build the company’s financial infrastructure
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Deliver timely, GAAP-compliant, board- and investor-ready financial statements
  • Own revenue recognition for subscription- and usage-based revenue
  • Maintain a clean, well-documented general ledger with scalable account coding
  • Run and partially automate AP and AR end to end, including customer invoicing, collections, and expense management
  • Manage tax compliance and filings
  • Own relationships with external audit, tax, and legal partners
  • Build and enforce internal controls
  • Prepare the company for future financing rounds and its first external audit
  • Define and own the AI-native finance tool stack
  • Evaluate and select financial systems and identify opportunities for AI workflow automation
  • Hire, mentor, and build the accounting team as the function scales
  • Report to the Head of Finance & Strategy and collaborate with finance, leadership, and cross-functional leaders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 5 to 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a high-growth SaaS company
  • Strong command of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition and deferred revenue for subscription & usage businesses
  • Experience managing month-end close and preparing financial statements
  • Experience completing audits
  • Ability to build sophisticated financial models, automate workflows, and work comfortably with large datasets
  • Proven track record of building accounting processes in an early-stage environment
  • InsurTech experience is a bonus
  • Big 4 Accounting experience is a bonus
  • Experience with venture-backed startup accounting and external audit or diligence preparation is a bonus
  • Experience with accounting process automation, reporting dashboards, and systems integrations is a bonus
