About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute category management strategies that align with company goals and drive profitable growth; define category vision, growth strategy and 3-year roadmap.
- Analyze market trends, consumer insights, and competitive dynamics to identify growth opportunities and inform product positioning.
- Identify whitespace, assortment gaps, and innovation opportunities
- Develop annual and long-range sales strategies aligned to company targets
- Lead category input into AOP, forecasting, and demand planning
- Lead assortment planning, pricing optimization, and promotional effectiveness to meet or exceed financial targets.
- Define channel strategies (eCommerce, retail, B2B, etc.)
- Partner with Sales leadership on targets, coverage, and focus areas
- Partner across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain drive category plans and ensure alignment
- Lead monthly business reviews (MBRs) and planning cycles
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to enhance category insights, shopper engagement, and omnichannel strategies
- Influence senior leadership on investment and prioritization decisions
- Partner with Brand and Supply Chain on new item launches, SKU rationalization and productivity improvements
- Leverage data analytics and category management tools to monitor performance, track KPIs, and recommend actionable improvements
- Own category dashboards and KPI tracking
- Deliver actionable insights on revenue, margin, and trends
- Identify risks/opportunities and drive course correction
- Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations
- Manage relationships with key retail partners to influence category development and secure shelf space
- Develop GTM playbooks and sales enablement inputs
- Support key account strategies around assortment, pricing, and shelf
- Coach and develop a high-performing category management team to foster talent and deliver results
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in category management or commercial strategy, preferably within the CPG or food industry.
- Proven success developing and implementing category plans that deliver growth and profitability.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Experience working with retailers and managing category relationships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Proficiency with category management and analytics tools (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, SPINS).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Travel may be required up to 15% to support retail partnerships and industry events.
