About the role
- Ottimate is seeking a highly analytical and technically proficient Payments Analyst to join our Finance team.
- This is a crucial, high-impact role responsible for being the analytical powerhouse supporting our Payment Operations, Vendor Operations, and Risk teams.
- You will not just report data; you will build the data infrastructure, automated monitoring, and predictive models necessary to optimize payment performance, maximize vendor conversion economics, and actively mitigate payments risk across the entire platform.
- Design, build, and maintain automated anomaly detection and alerting systems to monitor the real-time health of payment flows.
- Own the data pipeline for Payments—from sourcing raw transactional data (using SQL) to cleaning, transforming, and loading it into visualization tools for analysis.
- Analyze core payments KPIs to identify operational bottlenecks and drive efficiency improvements within Payment Operations.
- Conduct in-depth analysis on payments mix and routing to optimize transaction costs and maximize revenue from interchange/rebates.
- Develop and maintain robust vendor enrollment and conversion funnel models, forecasting the financial impact of shifting vendors to preferred electronic payment methods.
- Partner with the Risk team to model financial exposure and build reporting that tracks potential loss vectors, such as payments fraud attempts and chargeback/return rates.
- Produce and distribute standardized, automated management reports and dashboards that clearly communicate the financial health and operational performance of the entire payment ecosystem to cross-functional leaders.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a data-intensive analyst role (e.g., Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or FP&A).
- Advanced-level proficiency in SQL for complex data transformation, cleaning, and analysis of high-volume transactional data is mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, or Engineering).
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI or similar BI tools is required, with proven experience building complex, self-service dashboards.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in the Fintech, Payments, or a high-volume transactional SaaS environment.
- Proven track record of transforming manual, ad-hoc analysis into reliable, automated data products (dashboards, alerts, models) that drive measurable business outcomes.
- Excellent ability to translate technical payments metrics (like basis points, interchange, and take rates) into clear business outcomes.
