About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare for field assignments using Osmose pre-project and project plan information
- Formulate daily project plans with customer field supervisors
- Provide on-site customer training on safety, test equipment, and test procedures
- Assess test environments and factors affecting cable performance and diagnostic results
- Direct customers and contractors on-site during test preparation and execution
- Determine and implement field approaches to meet customer needs and solve problems
- Maintain positive relationships with multiple customer representatives
- Oversee Factory Grade advanced diagnostics for underground medium- and high-voltage power cables
- Troubleshoot and repair diagnostic equipment, circuitry, interfaces, and computer subsystems
- Operate advanced diagnostics equipment and acquire on-site test data
- Apply partial discharge principles to field assessments
- Evaluate whether test data is sufficient for meaningful analysis
- Perform cable matching procedures and record technical and administrative data
- Troubleshoot electromechanical equipment and systems
- Escalate critical technical and administrative issues to the remote support team
- Comply with company technical, administrative, and safety procedures
- Meet certification and safety/compliance requirements
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and scheduled activities
- Lead assist crews in cable reliability management actions, including mitigation and splicing
- Move, supply, and coordinate maintenance for the Mobile Diagnostic Unit
- Provide shadow training to other field associates when assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent is a plus
- Experience testing low-voltage and high-voltage power systems is a plus
- At least one year of experience in power utilities field service is a plus
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering and systems fundamentals
- Knowledge of analog and digital signal processing theory fundamentals
- Ability to supervise work crews and evaluate diagnostic data integrity
- Ability to troubleshoot analog and digital circuitry, high-frequency and fiber-optic interfaces, computer subsystems, and electromechanical equipment
- Ability to meet certification and safety/compliance requirements
- Ability to travel up to 70% and work in diverse, challenging, and unpredictable field settings
