About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide overall tactical and strategic direction and management of projects through designated project managers
  • Ensure consistency of process across projects and internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Define and manage project scope in alignment with business objectives and customer expectations
  • Oversee project budgets and financial accountability
  • Allocate and manage resources across multiple projects
  • Manage project risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies
  • Act as the first escalation point for project issues
  • Interface regularly with customers alongside individual project managers
  • Communicate project progress and key risks or issues to stakeholders
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather and document requirements and drive decision-making

  • Create or assist with project status presentations for stakeholders and leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of leadership experience for Manager, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 or more years of leadership experience for Senior Manager, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screening
  • Must have identification compliant with the Real ID Act at time of hire
  • Must be able to obtain Department of Energy PIV access badge
  • Advanced knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid frameworks
  • Knowledge of project governance, risk management, budget management, resource planning, and change management practices
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, business operations, and process improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Azure DevOps, Jira, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Knowledge of financial management principles, including forecasting, budgeting, and cost control
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, competing demands, and complex projects
  • Effective negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills
