Key responsibilities & impact

Provide overall tactical and strategic direction and management of projects through designated project managers
Ensure consistency of process across projects and internal and external customer satisfaction
Define and manage project scope in alignment with business objectives and customer expectations
Oversee project budgets and financial accountability
Allocate and manage resources across multiple projects
Manage project risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies
Act as the first escalation point for project issues
Interface regularly with customers alongside individual project managers
Communicate project progress and key risks or issues to stakeholders
Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather and document requirements and drive decision-making
Manage project reporting deliverables and ensure Project Managers meet deadlines
Create or assist with project status presentations for stakeholders and leadership
Promote best practices and continuous improvement in project delivery
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
Establish project management standards and governance structures
Oversee a portfolio of complex, cross-functional projects and programs supporting organizational goals and strategic priorities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of leadership experience for Manager, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Bachelor's Degree and 8 or more years of leadership experience for Senior Manager, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Ability to pass a background and drug screening
Must have identification compliant with the Real ID Act at time of hire
Must be able to obtain Department of Energy PIV access badge
Advanced knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid frameworks
Knowledge of project governance, risk management, budget management, resource planning, and change management practices
Knowledge of strategic planning, business operations, and process improvement methodologies
Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Azure DevOps, Jira, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 applications
Knowledge of financial management principles, including forecasting, budgeting, and cost control
Strong leadership and people management skills
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, competing demands, and complex projects
Effective negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to lead and oversee complex, cross-functional projects and programs
