Purchasing Specialist

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the end-to-end purchasing process
- Build strong supplier relationships
- Serve as the main point of contact for order inquiries
- Create, process, and manage purchase orders (POs)
- Monitor order status and proactively follow up with vendors to ensure on-time delivery
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers
- Review inventory levels and demand signals within the MRP/ERP system
- Analyze inventory requirements to prevent stockouts or excess inventory
- Monitor office supply inventory and proactively replenish supplies
- Perform regular inventory counts and support cycle counting processes
- Prepare and kit electronic components for shipment to contract manufacturers
- Coordinate with internal teams to align purchasing and production needs
- Assist in vendor selection and evaluation in accordance with QMS requirements
- Support supplier performance monitoring
- Resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, or deliveries
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendor data
- Assist in sourcing new suppliers and obtaining quotes
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certificate, diploma, or equivalent training and/or experience in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
- Experience working with electronic components or in a manufacturing environment is an asset
- Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) is an asset
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma is an asset
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and supplier evaluation processes is an asset
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and supply planning
- Excellent communication and vendor management skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple orders in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed purchasing decisions
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve order and supply issues efficiently
