About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

provide legal expert advice on business and personnel matters
advise on legal and regulatory implications of strategic initiatives
primary responsibility for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements
provide legal counsel regarding wealth management, SaaS, and technology-enabled products
develop and provide legal staff training sessions
advise on corporate governance, commercial contracts, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property
ensure protection of Orion’s intellectual property
support governance and compliance activities in partnership with Orion's Risk and Compliance teams
present legal analysis and recommendations to senior leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need

knowledge of federal and state securities and financial services laws, rules, and regulations
knowledge of financial services compliance regulations
knowledge of data privacy and security laws, rules, and regulations
proficiency in reviewing, negotiating, and drafting complex contracts
experience supporting financial services, fintech, SaaS, or other highly regulated technology organizations
familiarity with data privacy, cybersecurity, AI, cloud technologies, or emerging technology legal issues
demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability
ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences
ability to evaluate fact situations, identify legal issues, analyze statutes, regulations, and recommend appropriate courses of action
Juris Doctor degree
licensed to practice law in the state of Nebraska or ability to obtain license within six months
a minimum of 3 years of experience as an attorney or relevant legal experience
