About the role
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of automation engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.
- Set clear goals, manage performance, and support career development for direct reports across varying levels of seniority.
- Drive recruiting efforts to attract and retain top automation engineering talent.
- Champion engineering best practices, knowledge sharing, and a strong team culture aligned with Organon’s values.
- Own and evolve Organon’s enterprise Ansible practice, including the design and governance of playbooks, roles, collections, and dynamic inventory, ensuring they are scalable, reusable, and maintainable across environments.
- Lead the adoption and expansion of Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), including automation controller, execution environments, and event-driven automation to enable self-service and proactive operations.
- Drive automation of on-premises infrastructure operations — server provisioning and lifecycle, OS configuration and patching, network device management, and storage operations — using Ansible as the primary delivery mechanism.
- Identify and systematically eliminate manual operational toil across the infrastructure estate through well-engineered, auditable automation pipelines that improve reliability and reduce risk.
- Maintain compliance, security hardening, and governance automation aligned with enterprise security policy and audit requirements, integrating policy-as-code practices into automation workflows.
- Design and implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to standardize and accelerate cloud deployments across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines and self-service automation tools that improve developer productivity and reduce operational overhead.
- Contribute to Organon’s broader DevOps transformation by embedding automation into the software and infrastructure delivery lifecycle.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, or automation engineering roles.
- 3+ years of direct people management experience, including hiring, performance management, and team development.
- Deep, hands-on expertise with Ansible as a primary automation platform — including playbook development, roles, collections, dynamic inventory, and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
- Demonstrated experience automating on-premises infrastructure operations including server lifecycle management, configuration management, OS patching, and network/storage automation.
- Strong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, etc.) and CI/CD platforms (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with two or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) in enterprise environments.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
- A clear, well-developed point of view on how AI is transforming infrastructure and cloud operations, with demonstrated experience applying AI or ML capabilities in an infrastructure or operations context.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with a track record of influencing outcomes across cross-functional teams.
