About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support and prioritize IT needs of the AICnet and DOC staff network, aligning decisions with laws, policies, and purchasing procedures
- Plan, configure, and maintain network, cloud, and security resources, including hardware, software, cloud configurations, and firewall rules
- Provide advanced wired and wireless connectivity assistance and diagnose recurring issues onsite or remotely
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity problems across cloud-hosted and on-premises systems, including VPN, DNS, authentication, and cloud access
- Install, upgrade, configure, and document switches, routers, wireless access points, controllers, and firewalls
- Administer firewall rule sets, ACLs, and VPN configurations, including reviews, audits, and updates
- Collaborate with program managers, IT staff, stakeholders, and service providers to identify requirements, assess vulnerabilities, and respond to incidents and service requests
- Contribute to department-wide technology policies and procedures supporting security, performance, and network availability
- Respond to system emergencies outside normal business hours and participate in on-call or standby duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Four years of information systems experience in technical support, OR an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, OR completion of a two-year accredited vocational training program in information technology or a related field plus two years of information systems experience in technical support, OR a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with Cisco networks
- Experience with Fortinet security infrastructure
- Experience supporting thin-client or virtualized environments
- Working knowledge of firewall administration, rule management, VPN configuration, cloud infrastructure, identity/access management, and cloud networking
- Experience working with ticketing systems
- Hands-on experience installing, upgrading, and configuring switches, routers, wireless access points, controllers, and firewalls
- Proven experience managing and troubleshooting enterprise network environments across multiple sites or user groups
- Must pass a CJIS fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility
- Any felony convictions will disqualify the candidate due to CJIS requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; ODOC does not offer visa sponsorship
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting computer equipment up to 50 lbs and bending, crawling, and reaching under desks
- Ability to travel occasionally overnight in-state and out-of-state
- Applicants must meet minimum qualifications by the application close date
