About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct safety evaluations, analysis, and accident investigations of a broad range of Oregon workplaces
  • Take enforcement action for the purpose of controlling and eliminating workplace hazards and ensuring compliance with the Oregon Safe Employment Act
  • Provide training and serve as a technical resource

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • One year of experience performing duties of an industrial safety representative or safety officer OR
  • A bachelor's degree in industrial safety or occupational safety and health OR
  • An associate degree in industrial safety or occupational safety and health and two years of industrial safety or regulatory enforcement program experience OR
  • Four years of industrial safety or regulatory enforcement program experience.
  • Strong technical occupational safety program knowledge
  • Outstanding professional communication skills, including verbal and written skills
  • Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to assist other staff with solving problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
  • Demonstrated skill applying specific well defined rules and procedures to work performance
  • Demonstrated team player skills, including the willingness to collaborate, share information, and contribute to the team's success
  • Experience making decisions independently
  • Preference may be given to candidates who can demonstrate the ability to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience in residential and commercial construction such as but not limited to, site preparation, excavation, earthwork/grading, concrete work, structural framing, electrical, steel erection, operation of cranes and/or derricks, heavy equipment operation, traffic control, and/or project management
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience in the cable timber harvesting (logging) industry such as but not limited to manual feller, choker setter, rigging slinger, chaser, hook tender, yarder engineer/operator, processor operator, and/or side rod
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience in the mechanical timber harvesting (logging) industry such as feller buncher operator, skidder operator, forwarder operator, processor / loader operator, and/or tethered logging equipment operator
