About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead electrical engineering and design efforts for capital and maintenance projects from concept through commissioning
- Develop and review electrical engineering deliverables, including single-line diagrams, power distribution designs, equipment layouts, cable and conduit schedules, routing plans, grounding and lightning protection systems, interconnecting wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
- Perform and review load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, and motor starting analyses
- Develop equipment data sheets, RFQs, technical bid evaluations, and equipment recommendations
- Participate in client meetings, site walkdowns, startup activities, and commissioning support
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts with mechanical, structural, civil, process, and instrumentation teams
- Support proposal development, scope definition, and engineering estimates
- Mentor junior engineers and designers and provide technical guidance across project teams
- Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and quality procedures
- Support business development initiatives as a trusted technical advisor to clients
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 20+ years of electrical engineering experience in consulting environments
- Strong understanding of medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems
- Strong understanding of substations and switchgear
- Strong understanding of protective relaying systems
- Strong understanding of motor control centers (MCCs)
- Strong understanding of variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Strong understanding of emergency and standby power systems
- Strong understanding of industrial grounding systems
- Experience with electrical power system modeling software such as SKM, ETAP, or equivalent
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written communication, technical report writing, and client interaction skills
- Ability to work independently while leading project teams and coordinating multiple concurrent assignments
- Preferred: project management experience managing engineering scope, budget, and schedule
- Preferred: familiarity with NETA testing standards
- Preferred: working knowledge of NFPA 70B
- Preferred: ability to interpret testing results, identify equipment deficiencies, develop corrective action recommendations, and support reliability improvement initiatives
- Preferred: multi-state engineering licensure
