About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide timely and practical legal advice to meet the labor/employment legal needs of a global company.
  • Provide day-to-day advice and guidance to People Team members and business leaders in Mexico and Latin America on a variety of employment topics, including hiring, performance management, employee relations, leaves of absence and accommodations, workplace safety issues, discipline and termination, compensation, benefits, and union/labor relations.
  • Partner closely and collaboratively with investigative functions, providing day to day employment law advice relating to internal investigations in Mexico and Latin America.
  • Oversee employment related litigation in Mexico and Latin America, including responding to attorney demand letters, effectively negotiating resolution of claims, and making recommendations to the People Team and senior management on corrective action.
  • Oversee and manage outside counsel on all matters in Mexico and Latin America to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service, leveraging an established network of outside counsel.
  • Prepare template agreements to build efficiencies internally.
  • Review and enhance employee policies, procedures, handbooks, and training in Mexico and Latin America to ensure compliance with employment and labor laws.
  • Monitor changes to employment and labor regulations and advise Legal teams and People teams on changes affecting employment and labor obligations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 8 years of labor & employment law experience
  • Bachelor of Laws Degree or equivalent
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is a must; additional languages such as Dutch, French, German or Polish is a plus
  • Prior in-house experience preferred.
