About the role
- The IT Program Manager serves as the program manager of business intelligence, data analytics, cloud-computing, development of AI tools for research, database ecosystem development, and other data science initiatives at the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome.
- The position oversees and drives several complex distributed data solutions for internal Crnic Institute initiatives and multiple externally funded cooperative agreement projects aimed at significantly improving the lives of people with Down syndrome through advanced biomedical research.
- Oversee, direct, and develop complex data integration pipelines.
- Database design and development, server configuration and setup, and extracting transform load (ETL) processes for loading data from various sources into one common SQL database.
- Translate complex scientific genomic and pan-omic data into consumable, easy to use data solutions.
- Guide and inform the decision process to ensure the right technical solution is selected and correctly implemented.
- Establish the strategic direction for data analytics within the Linda Crnic Institute with oversight from the Executive Director.
- Oversee and lead key strategic initiatives to design, develop, deploy, and maintain data solutions for various internal and externally funded projects.
- Be the go-to expert for all data solutions built by the Linda Crnic Institute.
- Determine strategic prioritization and best course of action on data projects.
- Evaluate and recommend new data technology solutions for the Linda Crnic Institute.
- Act as a strategic data liaison for the Linda Crnic Institute.
- Collaborate with the Director of Clinical and Translational Science Program (CTSP), Director of the Experimental Models Program, Director of the Data Sciences Program, and Director of Finance and Administration to identify reporting needs and drive initiatives to develop rich, interactive dashboards.
- Oversee and provide day-to-day support for data systems.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, business analytics, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Four (4) years of professional experience related to cloud computing, data analysis, and engineering.
- Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of professional level experience as a data analyst, business intelligence developer, or data engineer.
- Five (5) or more years of extensive experience programming in R, Python, or .NET.
- Five (5) or more years of in-depth experience with all aspects of data warehousing.
- Five (5) or more years of experience with MS SQL Server BI Stack (MS SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS).
- Experience with statistical analysis.
- Experience with data visualization best practices and implementations.
- Experience in an academic environment.
- Experience working on externally funded projects with budgetary and milestone dependencies.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
