About the role
- Plan, install, configure, upgrade, and administer MS SQL databases in both operational and analytical environments
- Monitor database health, performance, and security; apply patches and ensure compliance with organizational standards
- Collaborate with data analysts, data modelers, and engineers to support data lake, business intelligence and analytic needs
- Create and manage database objects (schemas, tables, views, procedures)
- Recommend indexes, partitions, and other techniques to optimize data structures and improve query performance
- Participate in database migrations and refresh non-production environments with production data
- Author and maintain documentation for database configurations, policies, and procedures
- Contribute to backup, fail-over, and disaster recovery strategies
- Support production on-call rotation for database administration
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information systems, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- 4 years of professional or high-level technical work experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree
- An associate’s degree with two years of relevant work experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree
- SENIOR: 2 years of MS SQL Server Database Administration experience
- PRINCIPAL: 3-5 years of MS SQL Server Database Administration experience
- Strong knowledge of database administration and development, especially MS SQL Server
- Experience with Windows, Linux/Unix, shell scripting, and networking
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
- Familiarity with data warehouse/data lake standards as well as associated business intelligence tools.
