About the role
- Own Optery’s release calendar and cadence across frontend, backend, and mobile, and ensure it is kept in sync with sprint plans and business priorities.
- Participate in sprint planning and backlog grooming to confirm work is properly ticketed, scoped, and sequenced for release
- Coordinate and manage release readiness: confirm all testing is complete, environments are available, dependencies are resolved, and rollback/mitigation steps are defined.
- QA and Testing: perform detailed QA and testing of new releases, provide feedback and resolve issues.
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for release execution, bridging engineering, product, marketing, customer-facing, and business teams so all parties know what is shipping and when.
- Document and distribute release notes and change communications for internal audiences; ensure customer-facing teams have what they need for external communication.
- Track and surface release risks, blockers, and post-release issues; support troubleshooting with engineering and QA as needed.
- Propose and implement incremental improvements to the release process (checklists, templates, metrics) to increase predictability and reduce manual work.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in release management, software delivery, software QA and testing, and/or technical program/project management in a software/SaaS environment.
- Prior exposure to one or more adjacent areas such as frontend development, mobile app development, backend/services, product management, QA, or technical troubleshooting.
- Strong practical experience with work-tracking tools such as Jira and with Agile/Scrum sprint ceremonies.
- Ability to coordinate teams in multiple time zones.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide concise status, risk, and schedule updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in a high-growth, remote, startup environment.
- Experience supporting mobile store releases (Apple App Store, Google Play) (Nice to have)
- Javascript and React frontend development experience (Nice to have)
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and git-based workflows (Nice to have)
- Experience working with products in privacy, security, or data domains (Nice to have)
- Experience supporting releases in environments aligned to SOC 2 or similar frameworks (Nice to have).
