About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Owning state-level strategy and calibrating Openly's homeowners program for assigned states and new state entries, including UW eligibility, coverage offerings, competitive positioning, and Openly proprietary models
  • Managing the state filing process and DOI relationships and correspondence, ensuring timely regulatory approval
  • Collaborating with our Technology and Operations teams to successfully implement rate reviews and new state launches
  • Monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators and drivers of profitability, including loss ratios, actuarial indications, frequency/severity trends, sales conversion, persistency, and translating findings into actionable strategic recommendations
  • Developing cost-benefit analyses of state-level strategic initiatives and presenting recommendations that balance market opportunity with company objectives and profitability targets
  • Identifying business challenges and opportunities, designing analytical frameworks to evaluate options, and delivering sound recommendations
  • Cultivating partnerships with Business Development, serving as the primary conduit for field-level market feedback into the Insurance Product organization
  • Escalating state-level insights that warrant countrywide product changes, acting as an internal advocate for market needs
  • Contributing to other product management initiatives, such as external data evaluations, market/competitor intelligence, and new product development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3-5 years of experience in insurance product management or product development roles, with a demonstrated focus on strategy, analytics, or state-level product ownership
  • A degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics, or related field
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to develop and interpret quantitative analyses and translate findings into strategic narratives for senior business leaders and cross-functional audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and define complex business problems and develop relevant analytical frameworks to deliver solutions, often operating in ambiguity and leveraging creativity
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and project management skills
  • Able to collaborate effectively with people at all levels across the company
  • Strong decision-making skills, using data to inform strategic recommendations
  • P&C insurance experience is required, and homeowners insurance experience is a plus
  • Insurance product compliance and/or state regulatory relationship experience is a plus
