About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and evolve OPENLANE Europe's compensation philosophy and total rewards framework
- Oversee salary structures, job architecture, grading frameworks, market benchmarking, and incentive programs
- Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery across European countries
- Strengthen payroll governance and controls, improve processes, and escalate complex payroll matters
- Manage and optimize pensions, insurance, mobility solutions, and company car policies
- Lead readiness for the EU Pay Transparency Directive and support equitable reward practices
- Monitor pay equity and maintain compliant reward policies
- Own annual compensation review processes, including salary reviews, bonus calculations, incentive plans, and reward planning
- Support reward decision-making through budgeting and cost modelling with HR and Finance
- Develop reward dashboards and reporting, monitor trends, analyze workforce costs, and provide actionable leadership recommendations
- Oversee compensation and agreements for approximately 30 contractors across Europe
- Lead, coach, and develop two Payroll & Benefits Officers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in HR, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in Compensation & Benefits, Total Rewards, or Payroll management
- Ideally, experience within an international European environment
- Strong expertise in multi-country European payroll, compensation design, benefits management, and reward governance
- Experience leading compensation review cycles, incentive programs, and salary benchmarking initiatives
- Good understanding of European payroll, employment, and reward regulations
- Experience with pay transparency and pay equity initiatives is considered a strong asset
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into business recommendations
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to influence leaders at different organizational levels
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing team members
- Continuous improvement mindset, strong attention to detail, and ownership
- Hands-on, driven, and proactive mindset balancing strategic thinking with operational execution
- Proficient in English, spoken and written
- CV in English and motivation letter required
