About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead design direction for identity, account security, permissions, and administrative experiences across consumer and enterprise products
- Design and ship experiences covering sign-in, authentication, account recovery, device accounts, privacy, access controls, governance, and remediation
- Define mental models and interaction patterns for human-to-agent and agent-to-agent identity, authorization, and trust
- Help users understand what people, systems, and agents can access or do on their behalf
- Design security checks and confirmation flows for sensitive actions while minimizing friction
- Partner with product management, engineering, security, privacy, and design peers on strategy, roadmap, and execution
- Navigate complex roles, policies, dependencies, and product states to create scalable, coherent systems
- Contribute to and evolve design systems and patterns across OpenAI identity experiences
Requirements
What you’ll need- Systems-oriented product thinker able to reason across complex states, dependencies, policies, and user types
- Experience designing role-based access or permissions for organizations with multiple teams, resources, or administration levels
- Understanding of balancing security, usability, and business needs in high-stakes workflows
- Strong UX/UI and interaction design skills
- High bar for contemporary craft, clarity, and quality
- Ability to translate complex technical capabilities and policies into understandable, trustworthy mental models
- Comfortable shaping direction amid evolving technology and user expectations
- Experience with enterprise, platform, desktop, infrastructure, or similarly complex product environments
- Excitement to establish conventions for identity and access involving AI agents
