About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, implement, and continuously improve a global insurance program covering key lines, including cyber, directors and officers (D&O), errors and omissions (E&O), property, general liability, international programs, and emerging AI-related exposures.
- Lead annual renewals, coverage reviews, market submissions, insurer negotiations, broker performance, and ongoing program optimization.
- Lead the evaluation of captive insurance structures, including feasibility analysis, domicile and governance considerations, capitalization, service-provider oversight, and performance monitoring.
- Establish a rigorous approach to identifying, quantifying, prioritizing, and mitigating insurable and enterprise risks.
- Partner with Finance and Treasury leadership on balance sheet protection, liquidity planning, capital efficiency, captive capitalization, and broader risk financing decisions.
- Assess insurance and risk implications of new products, strategic partnerships, acquisitions, international expansion, and significant infrastructure investments.
- Coordinate with Accounting, Tax, Legal, and Internal Audit on insurance accounting, controls, compliance, and governance matters.
- Own the claims management framework, coordinating timely and effective responses with internal stakeholders, brokers, counsel, and carriers.
- Develop enterprise risk and insurance policies, governance routines, controls, escalation protocols, and reporting standards.
- Prepare clear management and board-level reporting on exposures, claims trends, coverage adequacy, risk mitigation priorities, and financial impact.
- Help shape enterprise resilience, crisis response, and business continuity planning as the organization grows.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate insurance, enterprise risk management, treasury, brokerage, underwriting, or a closely related advisory field.
- Demonstrated experience designing or leading sophisticated insurance programs for a large-scale technology, infrastructure, or multinational organization. Strong preference for those with experience in a public company, late-stage high-growth technology company, or similarly complex global environment.
- Deep expertise in cyber, D&O, E&O, property/casualty, and complex commercial insurance structures, including risk transfer and retention analysis.
- Substantial experience establishing and managing captive insurance companies, including structuring, governance, capitalization, regulatory coordination, and ongoing program administration.
- Proven ability to combine strategic judgment with hands-on execution, operational rigor, and scalable process development.
- Excellent communication skills and a record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and senior decision-makers.
- Strong partnership orientation across finance, legal, security, technology, and operational teams.
- Experience navigating emerging technology exposures, major cyber risks, large infrastructure footprints, or global program structures.
- Experience with board reporting, enterprise risk governance, or alternative risk financing solutions beyond captive programs.
