About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for assigned commodities
- Map direct and indirect requirements and work with cross-functional teams to understand the market and competitive landscape
- Identify and assess potential suppliers for reliability, reputation, financial stability, capacity, quality control, and operational fit
- Negotiate long-term contracts defining quality standards, delivery schedules, pricing, business continuity, and supply-disruption contingencies
- Manage project schedules and task details using reports, tracking charts, checklists, and project scheduling software
- Ensure key suppliers execute Supply Master Agreements and complete monthly scorecards
- Ensure the supply base can handle volume and surge requirements
- Implement supplier development strategies to improve capabilities, cost, and lead times
- Engage business stakeholders in Operations strategic planning, supplier development, and field service improvements
- Lead the internal Onto Commodity Council
- Drive procurement initiatives for supply optimization, risk mitigation, flexibility, quality, lead time, and cost
- Improve supplier communications and summarize inter-organizational actions
- Oversee procurement-related supplier activities
- Support ECO development and execution and manage sourcing strategies for end-of-life components
- Oversee supplier quality actions, discrepant materials, return-to-vendor transactions, and repair/refurbishment
- Coordinate and lead QBRs with key suppliers
- Develop short- and long-term commodity strategies using market analysis, user requirements, and company objectives
- Analyze total cost of ownership, should-cost models, RFPs, negotiations, and financial models
- Identify make-versus-buy opportunities and align decisions with stakeholders
- Evaluate supplier performance and address sourcing issues with supplier leadership
- Negotiate and formalize supplier agreements
- Develop and implement sourcing and Operations strategies for new product introduction
- Collaborate with engineering to communicate requirements to suppliers and identify critical parts, long-lead parts, and inspection requirements
- Develop supplier and commodity road maps with engineering
- Perform value analysis on build-to-print components for should-cost analysis
- Ensure product lifecycle programs meet material cost and gross margin targets and maintain Cost Apportionment Models
- Provide engineering and business process expertise on complex programs and issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- BA in business or another quantitative field, or comparable experience
- Minimum 10+ years of operational experience
- At least 5 years in a successful Supply Chain management role
- Working knowledge of ERP systems
- Understanding of Master Scheduling, Material Planning, and Procurement
- Ability to establish relationships and trust within the organization and supply base
- Ability to communicate business needs, plans, and status effectively and succinctly
- Highly motivated self-starter who drives for results
- Ability to deal with ambiguity
