About the role

  • Act as the liaison between the Work Stream Leads, Work Stream contributors, and the GA4GH Secretariat, explaining technical project advancements, challenges, and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Track and provide support to deliver on scheduled projects.
  • Guide completed projects through the product approval process.
  • Facilitate collaboration between assigned Work Streams and other Work Streams to ensure harmony across all GA4GH projects using organisational and technical skills.
  • Ensure the proper running of the Work Streams and associated teams through conflict resolution, finding creative solutions to challenges, and understanding the intricacies of working within a global community.
  • Support outreach and implementation efforts for completed projects.
  • Deliver high quality documents for review and feedback by the GA4GH contributors and leadership.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and communication materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Work Streams by scheduling meetings, preparing materials, drafting agendas and minutes, and more.
  • Act as a GA4GH representative at international conferences via speaking engagements and establishing connections with potentially interested parties.
  • Promote active engagement with external parties in relation to the Work Stream or its projects.
  • Support planning for semiannual in-person meetings with focus on workshops and sessions relating to the Work Streams.
  • Attend regular virtual or hybrid Steering Committee meetings and video-conferences, preparing materials and speaking to various topics as required.
  • Keep abreast of scientific and other developments that are relevant to the Work Streams and GA4GH overall.
  • Support the GA4GH product approval review process through the assessment of regulatory and ethics implications of potential GA4GH products prior to their release.
  • Lead and supervise project coordinator(s) providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure their professional growth and success in project delivery.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree with focus on Law, Social, or Political Science, or Bioethics, or recognized equivalent.
  • Significant experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of core ethico-legal issues in genomics and data sharing.
  • Ability to contribute to policy-oriented outputs.
  • Basic knowledge of data security and privacy protection issues and related technologies.
  • A commitment to high standards of integrity and ethics.
  • Strong interest in technical applications and implementation of data governance and policies.
  • Advanced writing skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Experience with word processing, slide presentations, and spreadsheets are required.
  • Collaborative. Independent and self-motivated. Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Able to work flexible hours on occasion.
