About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and deliver firmware for upcoming product milestones using agile methodology
  • Ensure firmware is stable, version-controlled, and ready for integration and release
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, mobile, and system teams
  • Ensure robust and accurate signal acquisition at device level
  • Optimize timing, synchronization, and data integrity
  • Minimize signal loss, corruption, and acquisition errors
  • Contribute to achieving system performance targets in validation and pilots
  • Ensure stable device behavior under real-world conditions
  • Handle edge cases (disconnects, low battery, recovery scenarios)
  • Reduce failures and unexpected behavior during studies and usage
  • Work closely with hardware engineers on system integration
  • Optimize firmware architecture and code for:
  • - performance
  • - memory usage
  • - power consumption
  • Advise and support component changes and assess their impact
  • Enable testability through logging, diagnostics, and debug tools
  • Support investigation of system-level issues (e.g. signal quality)
  • Collaborate with validation teams to resolve issues quickly
  • Develop firmware in compliance with regulated development processes (incl risk management, development plans)
  • Ensure traceability from requirements to implementation and testing
  • Contribute to documentation required for regulatory submissions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • - **Education:** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • - **Experience:**
  • - 5+ years of experience in **embedded / firmware development** (C/C++ or similar)
  • - Experience with **real-time systems** and hardware interaction
  • - Familiarity with **signal acquisition systems** or sensor-based devices
  • - Experience with **communication protocols** (e.g. BLE, UART, SPI, I2C)
  • - Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • - **Preferred:**
  • - Experience in **medical devices or regulated environments**
  • - Experience with **low-power / battery-operated systems**
  • - Exposure to **signal processing or data acquisition pipelines**
  • - Familiarity with **design control or IEC 62304**
