About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary legal partner to marketing, brand, design, paid media, and product teams.
  • Provide practical, real-time counsel throughout the marketing lifecycle.
  • Advise on advertising technology, tracking, consumer data, CCPA/CPRA, PII, targeting, and disclosures.
  • Structure and negotiate creator, influencer, brand-collaboration, affiliate, agency, vendor, talent, and marketing-partnership agreements.
  • Advise on FTC endorsement and disclosure rules, usage and content rights, and platform terms.
  • Design and review rewards programs, sweepstakes, contests, promotions, official rules, registration, bonding, and multi-state compliance.
  • Support production and content development, including talent releases, music and licensing, rights clearances, and vendor agreements.
  • Partner on claim substantiation, puffery, comparative claims, and disclaimers.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate contract review, marketing review workflows, knowledge management, and issue-spotting while maintaining controls and confidentiality.
  • Build lightweight processes and self-serve guidance to help marketing move quickly and remain compliant.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • J.D.
  • Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar
  • 8+ years of legal experience, including at a leading law firm and/or in-house
  • At least 6 years focused on marketing, advertising, and/or ad tech law
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of advertising and consumer-protection law, including the FTC Act and UDAAP
  • Knowledge of promotions and sweepstakes, endorsement and influencer rules, affiliate marketing, and advertising-related privacy
  • Knowledge of CCPA/CPRA, state privacy laws, PII, ad tech, and tracking
  • Experience working directly with C-suite and executive leadership
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills across agency, vendor, talent, and marketing-partnership agreements
  • Proficiency with AI tooling
  • Practical, business-first judgment in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Clear, concise communication across creative, technical, and non-legal audiences
  • Preferred: tech, fintech, or financial services experience; familiarity with marketing in a regulated industry; in-house experience at a high-growth consumer brand or platform
