About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide specialized nutrition care to oncology and hematology patients across the continuum of care
- Apply evidence-based nutrition guidelines to support treatment tolerance, optimize nutritional status, enhance quality of life, and support survivorship and recovery
- Conduct individualized nutritional assessments at diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and survivorship stages
- Develop evidence-based nutrition care plans tailored to cancer type, treatment modality, and patient comorbidities
- Educate and counsel patients and families on symptom management
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and the multidisciplinary cancer care team
- Provide ongoing education, support, and referral services to patients and care partners
- Monitor patient progress and adjust nutrition interventions
- Lead group education sessions, workshops, or support groups
- Serve as an internal resource for oncology-specific nutrition guidelines, best practices, and staff training
- Document patient communication and interventions in real time using available software
- Participate in quality and performance reviews and implement improvement activities with PCI leadership
- Coordinate specified care with third-party outpatient service departments and organizations
- Communicate with patients, care partners, healthcare team members, and third-party organizations
- Serve as a resource to colleagues and preceptor to new employees
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment
- Manage time and delegate responsibility appropriately
- Use resources responsibly with a focus on cost containment
- Participate in professional development and activities to maintain current knowledge
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA concepts
- Attend required classes and trainings
- Perform related work as directed by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition or related field from an ACEND accredited institution
- Active and unrestricted licensure as a Registered Dietician in the state of Georgia
- Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) preferred, or willingness to obtain within 2 years of hire
- Ability to lift, carry, or move objects up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing and walking
- Periods of prolonged sitting
- Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing) and fine motor skills
- Proficiency in HIPAA concepts
- Attendance at prescribed classes and trainings as required by the organization and clinical department
- Travel may be required
