About the role
- Produce and finalize print-ready packaging artwork (flexible packaging, cartons, boxes, films, pouches, etc.) from concept to press-ready files.
- Translate designs into dieline-accurate layouts; apply correct bleeds, trim, folds, and Pantone/CMYK conversions.
- Manage multiple SKU templates and update artwork for seasonal changes, copy edits, barcodes, nutrition facts, and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Preflight files and run PDF proofs; check/verify image resolution, color profiles, trap/overprint settings, knockouts, and font embedding/outline.
- Create and maintain packaging templates and asset libraries.
- Work with the larger graphic design and cross-functional packaging team to optimize processes and procedures.
- Coordinate with printers to resolve production issues, recommend design adjustments for manufacturability, and approve press proofs.
- Ensure strict adherence to brand guidelines, packaging specifications, and regulatory labeling standards (FDA, etc.).
- Work within project management systems to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate status to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and propose process improvements to streamline packaging workflow.
Requirements
- 2+ years of production packaging design experience, preferably in CPG or food brands.
- Outstanding portfolio exhibiting graphic design across print and digital projects with a focus on packaging work.
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Figma.
- Strong working knowledge of dielines, prepress, color management, trapping, and print production processes.
- Familiarity with barcodes, UPC management, nutrition panel layout, and regulatory labeling.
- Excellent attention to detail and file organization; strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and respond to printer feedback quickly.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with designers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
