About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinates and schedules surgeries and follow-up appointments for multiple providers
  • Performs pre-operative and post-operative data entry
  • Provides patients with necessary information
  • Arranges for referrals to other providers when required
  • Provides information and education to patients, providers, and insurance companies as needed
  • Works with Central Access to obtain prior authorization from insurance companies for procedures, diagnostic studies, etc.
  • Provides support and training to office personnel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of Medical Assistant certification, LPN, or higher level program preferred; if not, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) training required with certification completed within 12 months of hire required
  • Three years’ experience in a medical clinic or hospital
  • Working knowledge of medical/surgical terminology, third-party payor requirements, electronic scheduling systems, and electronic medical record systems preferred
  • Training as Medical Assistant preferred
  • MA-C, LPN, RN, or CPOE required (incumbent will have 12 months to obtain CPOE if necessary)
