About the role

  • Design electrical systems for federal buildings, upgrade power distribution networks, and ensure compliance with safety codes and environmental regulations
  • Implement renewable energy initiatives while improving overall energy efficiency for federal facilities
  • Conduct site surveys and troubleshoot electrical installations to ensure reliability and performance
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, technical specifications, project status reports, manuals, and compliance documentation
  • Ensure all designs and installations align with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, federal agency requirements, and environmental regulations
  • Plan and manage project budgets, schedules, and proposals while coordinating teams across federal agency projects
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Assist in the recruiting for the federal team
  • Represent Olsson in client meetings and site visits, providing expert guidance from concept through construction and ensuring client satisfaction

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design, ideally with federal clients
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD and other relevant design software
  • Deep understanding of DoD, VA, and federal design standards and processes
  • Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to coordinate complex projects
