About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Responsible for end-to-end legal ownership of consumer-facing matters within a newly formed bank.
Drafting and maintaining all customer-facing terms and disclosures.
Embedding legal support into product development.
Managing legal risk arising from marketing activity and promotions.
Supporting operational legal matters in a lean legal environment.
Acting as a legal partner to product teams from ideation through launch.
Providing practical risk-mitigation strategies that enable delivery.
Reviewing and advising on marketing material, customer communications and campaigns.
Reviewing and assessing subpoenas, court documents and legal notices.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
Strong experience (typically 5–10+ years) within banking, financial services or consumer finance.
Demonstrated experience: Drafting customer‑facing terms and disclosures.
Advising on consumer protection and credit regulation.
Working closely with product and marketing teams.
Sound working knowledge of: NCA, CPA, TCF and related conduct requirements.
Regulatory and compliance frameworks applicable to banks.
In‑house experience in a regulated environment strongly preferred.
