About the role
- Design polished, user-friendly interfaces that align with Okendo’s design system and brand
- Lead and execute end-to-end design processes: discovery, research, wire-framing, prototyping, testing, visual design, and handover
- Conduct user testing and integrate feedback into product decisions
- Work closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation of your designs
- Help evolve and scale our design systems, patterns, and processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally across product, engineering, marketing, and customer success
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, design excellence, and user empathy
- Utilise Ai tools like claude, chat gpt, vercel V0, loveable to increase efficiencies in your design process, like early ideas prototyped for fast validation
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in a UI/UX design role (preferably in SaaS or tech)
- Strong foundation in UX, interaction design, and visual hierarchy
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, must be able to advocate for the merchant and shopper experience while balancing business and technical needs
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of product design execution and design thinking We want to know how you tackle complex or nuanced product problems and resolve them, what tradeoffs you’ve made and why.
- Experience working with design systems (we use Figma & Storybook)
- Familiarity with usability testing and UX research methods
- Strong market/design research skills and keen understanding of how visual layouts and hierarchy affect user experiences
- Comfortable collaborating with engineers to ensure designs are feasible, buildable, and polished
- Curious, collaborative, and comfortable with ambiguity
- Previous experience with Shopify or e-Commerce is ideal (but not required)
- Based in Australia with the right to work in Australia indefinitely and without sponsorship.
