About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform administrative and clinical duties delegated by the physician
  • Focus on surgery scheduling, with cross-training in front desk and referral coordination
  • Travel between the Bing Cancer Center, Pickerington Methodist Hospital, and Grant Medical Center as required
  • Assist physicians with patient care in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow and prepare patients for visits
  • Provide services and education as directed by providers
  • Document patient information in the Care Connect EMR
  • Perform administrative duties and maintain current information in the EMR inbox
  • Maintain and clean the environment, work area, and equipment
  • Collect and monitor patient data and report patient needs
  • Maintain documentation for chargeable patient items and services
  • Engage in quality and process improvement activities
  • Recommend and implement operational efficiency improvements and new services
  • Complete required continuous training and department-specific education
  • Promote patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and resource for quality improvement, performance improvement, and EMR use
  • Support patient-flow oversight, standard-work development, and necessary customizations
  • Function as a clinical preceptor and train new staff
  • Comply with scope of practice and high-reliability safety, quality, and efficiency responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent / High School or GED required
  • Completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program, or graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting, or completion of Military Medic training, or certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P), or at least one year of experience as a physician-trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Successful completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skills
  • Compliance with provider licensure, Ohio policy, scope of practice, and the Ohio Administrative Code
  • Ability to travel between the Bing Cancer Center, Pickerington Methodist Hospital, and Grant Medical Center
  • Availability for Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM schedule
  • Ability to complete required continuous training and education
