About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administers diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to facilitate the patient's breathing
  • Evaluates respiratory care for appropriateness and effectiveness
  • Communicates findings/results to other health care professionals
  • Performs role of charge therapist in absence of manager/supervisor
  • Maintains records and communicates information
  • Administers MDI, medication nebulization, posture drainage, positive pressure breathing, mechanical ventilation, oxygen and aerosol therapy, incentive spirometry, etc.
  • Observes patient during treatments and performs auscultation
  • Notifies Medical or Nursing Personnel of any adverse reactions
  • Records pertinent data on patient charts
  • Prepares for patient treatment by gathering necessary materials and equipment
  • Achieves adequate respiratory support for patient
  • Performs invasive procedures such as suctioning and arterial blood gas sampling/analysis
  • Responds to stat calls, Codes, Emergency response calls
  • Participates in trauma and resuscitation procedures
  • Assists with transport of patients requiring ventilator support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree (Required)
  • DL-HC - Driver's License only if in a Home Care department
  • NBRC - National Board of Respiratory Care
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Ohio License (Ohio Limited Permit acceptable)
  • CPR Certification
  • Valid state driver’s license (for Home Care only)
  • Minimum of eighteen (18) years old
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Proof of insurance (if applicable)
