About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with direct patient care and perform routine specialized medical procedures according to established clinical protocols
- Assist medical and/or nursing staff in examining and treating patients
- Room patients and measure and record vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
- Complete patient interviews and histories
- Prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments and explain procedures
- Assist with physician-ordered procedures, examinations, treatments, and special tests
- Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms
- Collect blood, urine, and sputum samples
- Perform routine laboratory tests on patient samples
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program, or minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience, or Military Medic training, or EMT-P (Paramedic) training, or equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
- Ability to assist with patient examinations, treatments, procedures, and special tests
- Ability to measure and record patient vital signs
- Ability to conduct patient interviews and histories
- Ability to collect blood, urine, and sputum samples
- Ability to perform routine laboratory tests
- Ability to set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms
