About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with direct patient care and perform routine specialized medical procedures according to established clinical protocols
- Assist medical and nursing staff in examining and treating patients
- Room patients and measure and record vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
- Complete patient interviews and histories
- Prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments and explain procedures
- Assist with physician-ordered procedures, examinations, treatments, and special tests
- Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms
- Collect blood, urine, and sputum samples
- Perform routine laboratory tests on patient samples
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One of the following: diploma from a Medical Assistant Program; minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience; Military Medic training; EMT-P (Paramedic) training; or equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
- Certified Medical Assistants receive additional compensation for obtaining and maintaining certification
