About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide skilled nursing services to patients under the direction of a medical doctor or midlevel provider
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment
- Administer nursing procedures including sterile dressings, soaks, compresses, enemas, suppositories, oxygen therapy, catheterization, diabetic care, and pre- and post-operative care
- Lead the day-to-day work and productivity of patient care staff
- Advise and assist staff with patient/customer issue resolution
- Assist the supervisor with employee time-off scheduling and daily work assignments
- Address clinic operations issues
- May act as a clinical preceptor
- Support hiring, training, employee engagement, performance management, service and operational improvement, management expectations, and scheduling
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Practical Nursing
- Current Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse license
- CPR certification
- Knowledge of sterile technique
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an LPN with OSUP, or equivalent experience at OSU within the last year
- Prior experience working in a preceptor designation preferred
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Knowledge of procedures and standards for administering medications and patient care aids
- Ability to convey information in writing and verbally
- High interpersonal skills for handling sensitive and confidential situations
- Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
- Analytical ability to gather and interpret data and develop, recommend, and implement solutions
