Medical Assistant – Urgent Care
Ohio State University PhysiciansMedical Assistant assisting in direct patient care at Ohio State University Physicians. Supporting examinations, treatments, and routine medical procedures in a collaborative healthcare environment.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with direct patient care, and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol.
- Assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
- Room patients, measure and record vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
- Complete patient interview and history.
- Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures.
- Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
- May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
- Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
- Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A diploma from a Medical Assistant Program OR
- Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience OR
- Military Medic training OR
- EMT-P (Paramedic) training OR
- Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
