About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee and implement the prevention, assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation and counseling of athletic injuries and conditions affecting athletes and patients within scope of practice.
  • Review, obtain and order diagnostic studies under the direction of the physician.
  • Obtain a thorough patient history including details of injury, past medical/surgical history, allergy verification, medication reconciliation.
  • Perform an appropriate physical examination to include strength testing, range of motion testing, and functional testing.
  • Construct and provide rehabilitation education to patients including range of motion and body mechanics.
  • Generate orders for advanced imaging, physician referrals and physical therapy referrals.
  • Remove post-operative dressing, sutures, and staples while providing additional aseptic wound care.
  • Coordinate the scheduling/rescheduling of appointments and obtain accurate patient vitals.
  • Complete all required documentation of patient care.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Licensure by the State of Ohio Occupational, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Training Board
  • Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree from an Athletic Training Education Program
  • Previous experience working with athletic populations and/or experience working in an orthopedic/sports medicine physician clinic
