About the role
- Design and build user-facing applications that directly improve access to services for Veterans and their families.
- Work with modern JavaScript frameworks, follow federal accessibility standards.
- Collaborate with backend, design, and product teams to deliver reliable, user-centered digital services.
- Experience with the VA’s design system, accessibility requirements, or federal digital service delivery is highly valued.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred) and building responsive, component-based UIs.
- Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and TypeScript, including cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with state management tools such as Redux or similar frameworks.
- Experience consuming and integrating with APIs, especially in high-security or large-scale systems.
- Proven track record diagnosing and resolving production issues to improve system reliability and uptime.
- Familiarity with the VA Design System, US Web Design System (USWDS), or other government design standards is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage dependencies, and deliver in complex environments.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
