About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Collaborate internationally: Work closely with Octopus Energy ES and various global teams to develop and integrate new features for our website and mobile app.
Own key product modules: Contribute directly to the private area, bill management, saving sessions, customer onboarding optimization, and marketing dashboards.
Drive fast-paced impact: Deliver code that directly impacts customers. Our priorities adapt to real-world needs, meaning the pace is fast and the feedback cycle is satisfyingly quick.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Fluent spoken English is absolutely essential 🇬🇧. The team is international, so English will be the language you use on a daily basis.
Strong professional experience building backend applications with **Python**.
Solid experience with **Django** (or equivalent robust web frameworks).
Deep understanding of **Domain Modelling** and software architecture.
Strong expertise designing and integrating **GraphQL & REST APIs**.
Proven experience writing **robust, fault-tolerant, and scalable software**.
Experience with **Celery** and asynchronous task processing.
Solid handling of relational databases, especially **PostgreSQL**.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead complex issues from concept to production.
