About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Maintain OCLC’s data platform with up-to-date, quality data
Translate business problems to technical requirements to design rapid prototypes of reports and dashboards
Build and maintain data models, reports, dashboards, and KPI/metrics from internal databases
Write performant code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale data environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
Perform exploratory data analysis for quality assurance, reporting, and to inform the development of statistical and machine learning models
Implement the DataOps philosophy in everything you do
Create and maintain documentation for data science initiatives and data resources
Collaborate with Data Scientists to drive efficiencies for their work

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s in a quantitative field (e.g., Engineering/CS/Math/Stats) + 2+ years in a data science role or Master’s + 1+ year in a data science role
Proficient in SQL for data warehouses
Intermediate Python proficiency (pandas/numpy, scikit-learn; visualization with matplotlib/seaborn/plotly)
Experience applying statistical and machine learning methods; solid grounding in probability and statistical inference
Experience with hypothesis testing and designing/analyzing experiments
Exposure to cloud environments and software engineering best practices (e.g., Git, code reviews, testing)
Strong data storytelling and communication skills; comfortable working in agile, collaborative teams
