About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assist patients and the health system in all aspects related to accounts receivable management and financial reporting by analyzing data.
Handle patient billing questions, complaints, and inquiries.
Offer alternative solutions and explain financial impacts.
Communicate, reconcile, adjust and collect receivables from the customers.
Research deferred patient inquiries and legal requests for resolution of inquiries.
Communicate and keep record of all resolved and unresolved issues with the leadership department and departmental leadership team.
Serve as a liaison between the patients, providers of health care services, external departments, or other responsible parties to perform account and chart reviews.
Provide routine support with ongoing staff training/coaching.
Assist leadership with special projects developed around educating staff members.

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or equivalent
4 years’ of direct healthcare experience; OR additional education can be substituted for experience
Computer skills required for data entry and retrieval
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Proficient with Windows-style applications, keyboard, and various software packages specific to role
Strong interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of medical terminology utilized in medical billing including Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases Codes (ICD-10 and ICD-9)
Knowledge of record keeping using an automated system and/or health care billing including Medicaid, Medicare, or other third party payers
Knowledge of public and private sources of assistance and methods of qualifying for funding
Knowledge of collection laws, regulations and techniques; current office practices and procedures
