About the role
- Review and prepare accurate and timely invoices/claims for services provided
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding invoices/claims, ensuring timely payments from insurance companies
- Continually monitor AR, ageing levels and unapplied billings
- Resolve billing issues, such as discrepancies or disputes, by communication with insurance companies and other stakeholders
- Maintain accurate and complete billing records and reports
- Utilize EHR systems and clearinghouse databases to maximize the pace and flow of revenue
- Accurately post all assigned insurance payments
- Enhance performance in unpaid claims/accounts receivables
- Address person inquiries and provide excellent customer service
- Collaborate with other departments in successful resolution of claims related issues
- Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality standards and HIPAA regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred, Bachelor’s Degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field
- Billing and coding certifications strongly preferred
- Preferred Experience: 5 years’ experience as a biller or billing specialist
- In depth knowledge of Medicaid, PIHP, and third-party billing
- Medical Coding/terminology
- Proficient in billing systems and clearinghouses
- Proficiency using EHR systems and clearinghouse databases
- Ability to accurately post all assigned insurance payments
- Maintains strict adherence to confidentiality standards, and HIPAA regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Must have available means of transportation to and from OCHN and for required offsite meetings or site visits
- Must be available for meetings and events which may occur outside of standard office hours
- Ability to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
