About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with oversight and management of an NYCM Insurance commercial product line, including product development, pricing, placement, and promotion
  • Manage product-related projects, initiatives, guidelines, and procedures to meet development objectives and profitability goals
  • Analyze competitive landscape, market penetration, pricing, insurance exposure trends, and macroeconomic and business-related costs
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders, actuarial consultants, and vendors to identify opportunities and refine product frameworks
  • Prepare NYSDFS product filings, supporting analyses, filing exhibits, and responses to regulator data requests
  • Analyze information using data manipulation, correlation, and statistical analysis
  • Conduct field research, including customer, distribution, competitor, insurance department, and market surveys
  • Identify market segments and produce customized product strategies using pricing and promotional positioning
  • Submit project requests with detailed systems implementation requirements for product launches and rate changes
  • Coordinate divisional activities and communications related to profitability and growth initiatives
  • Prepare internal and external product performance presentations
  • Develop proposals for corporate strategic profit and growth plans and action plans
  • Identify and lead vendor partner negotiations, including implementation
  • Make decisions in line-of-business product development and oversight
  • Provide insight during annual planning and evaluate team priorities and capacity
  • Support, guide, mentor, and lead team members through workload management, issue resolution, feedback, performance evaluation, and development
  • Provide input on hiring, firing, and salary adjustment decisions
  • Collaborate with management to foster inter-team cooperation and strengthen team unity
  • Expand knowledge of other business units and explore innovative ways to enhance line-of-business performance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with related experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with agents, regulators, agency groups, partner departments, and senior leadership
  • Technical insurance pricing expertise and ability to make effective business decisions incorporating multiple viewpoints
  • Understanding of complex, data-intensive, highly scalable decision-support applications
  • Strong knowledge of business processes and analytical support systems
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel; ability to create, manipulate, and formulate spreadsheets
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong business acumen with proficiency in application development and data warehousing
  • Innovative thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to draw insight from large amounts of data
