About the role
- Leading and growing a world-class engineering group dedicated to Data Center Controls, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and day‑to‑day technical leadership across multiple sites.
- Owning the full life cycle of controls systems (BMS, EPMS, PLC/SCADA) used in electrical, air-based cooling, and fluid-based cooling mechanical systems.
- Tasks include inventing concepts, composing system elements, deployment, operations, and continuous enhancement.
- Partnering with teams in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering passionate about building and construction.
- We define control philosophies, sequences of operation, and reference architectures for new builds, expansions, and retrofits.
- Diving in personally to provide deep technical mentorship on building management systems. This includes electrical power management and vendor platforms such as Cronus and Siemens, or comparable background. This includes configuration, programming, integrations, alarming, and data quality. Diving or comparable experience is considered.
- Driving incident response, root‑cause analysis, standards, and automation that improve uptime, safety, energy efficiency, and operational excellence across NVIDIA’s data centers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls/Automation, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ overall years of demonstrated experience in controls, critical facilities, or data center engineering, including significant work with power and cooling infrastructure and their control systems.
- 6+ years of proven experience leading engineering or operations teams as a people manager in large‑scale data center, HPC, or other critically important environments.
- Demonstrated deep, hands‑on expertise with BMS/EPMS and industrial controls, including architecture, configuration, fixing, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of critical electrical systems (e.g., MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs) and mechanical systems (e.g., chillers, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs/CRAC/CRAH, liquid cooling loops) in data centers.
- Proven track record to work in 24x7 production environments with high availability and strict SLAs, and to lead multi-functional initiatives with engineering, operations, procurement, and vendors.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to clearly present technical concepts and program status to senior technical and business leaders.
