Create highly detailed technical designs for additions and modifications to the distribution and transmission utility systems from project onset through completion.
Independently and under direction of senior designers and engineers manage concurrent projects related to designing Substation electric facilities and ensuring compliance with company standards, government regulations and tariffs.
Work as part of a project team on multiple projects, prioritizing tasks and communicating effectively.
Manage and maintain design records and files, complete as-built drawings, and create various permit drawings.
Prepare construction drawings, documents, calculations, and studies for medium and high voltage substation projects.
Responsible for technical delivery of power delivery engineering projects or tasks.
Prepare calculations, studies, and reports for substation and power systems projects meeting internal and client standards and requirements.
Apply engineering design principles and practices including formulas.
Work with small project teams to execute substation projects.
Requirements
4+ years of experience in the Substation Design/Power Delivery Field.
Experience with physical layouts, electrical elevations, plans (foundation, grounding, and raceway), and bills of materials including selection of non-standard equipment.
Ability to interpret and apply standards including IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards.
Experience with power system calculations (AC panel sizing, DC panel and battery sizing, Voltage Drop Calculations, Cable Sizing, etc.) is a plus.
Knowledge of substation physical equipment is required.
