About the role

  • Lead the design of projects from start to finish in a variety of sectors including Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and Life Science
  • Work closely with senior engineers, learning what makes a successful design practice
  • Hands-on with technical design of buildings projects
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously including budgeting, scheduling, and client management & communication
  • Attend project sites and client meetings
  • Collaborate with teams of engineers and architects to complete project deliverables
  • Coordinate design work with other engineering and architectural disciplines
  • Meet client expectations for budget and schedule while delivering a quality product
  • Increase proficiency in relevant design, modeling, and analysis software applications
  • Assist with budget estimates and write-ups for proposals

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering
  • M.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of California
  • 5+ years of relevant structural engineering design experience (Concrete, Steel, Masonry, Wood)
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction practices specific to high-seismic regions
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, RAM Concept, Enercalc, Excel)
  • Experience assembling calculation packages for submittal to agencies (DSA and HCAI a plus)
  • Revit experience including modeling and producing construction drawings is preferred
  • Experience with seismic evaluations and retrofits per ASCE 41 a plus
